One of my favourite Palace players of recent years was Claude Davis - an uncompromising defender and big personality who Dougie released.

Anyway, he seems to be doing OK at Rotherham who are through to the Div 1 Play off final v Leyton Orient, having triumphed over Preston.

He didn't play tonight, but a trip to Wembley nowbeckons.

Good old Claude!

i thought you were talking about QPR/wigan and the playoffs to get into the Prem. Loads of ex eagles involved.

I wouldn't go that far, although you were never quite sure what big Claude was going to do next...

And one that divided opinion. I loved Claude and his attitude and approach to the game. He as good as won us matches with some of his defending and was victimised by referees because of his reputation. Some of those red cards were completely unjustified (and some of them were, which is also great entertainment!)

He was absolutely terrible. The one reprieve for Claude was he was bought cheaply as a stop gap. During his time he gave all and may have been a bit of a saviour, though that's debatable. Anyway, as an old Eagle I'm bound, and happy to wish him the best of luck. I notice he is not in the first team....what does this say? Anyway. bon chance.

He was great to watch, a really commanding and powerful CB one minute, and the next the ball was somewhere it shouldn't, never a dull moment with Claude.

Claude 'The Wall' Davis. Almost killed a Cardiff Player in his first season on loan with us. Whilst he was never the worlds best defender, he was great value for us and always entertaining. His commitment to the team was unfaultable, and I don't remember anyhow musculing him off the ball.
