So a small part of the establishment was pro Nazi and huge numbers of ordinary folk were pro Soviet.

It's easy to be pro something from a safe distance.

The reality is a little different.

Yup the ones that have been publicly named were all upper class twits the sort that said that Mussolini makes the trains run on time.

It seems to be a matter of record some Daily Mail staff turned up to work wearing black shirts (source The Times of Israel which I have no reason to doubt). You cannot by any stretch argue that the behaviour of a newspaper owner decades ago has any bearing on the current newspaper.

Meanwhile the Guardian was heaping priase on Stalin and defending the show trials.

Lord Rothermere a famous proponent of national self determination was the owner so not really a big surprise. Working on an EU project some years ago, I was working with Hungarians, and they have a national holiday named after 'Lord Rothermere's Action'. Like a national day for them. He said that Hungary should be allowed to be a nation, free from Austria. I had never known about it until then, but just thought I'd put it here.

I used to put the manager's name in front of Red and Blue but got fed up with changing it. If someone cool becomes our manager then maybe..

Quite a vivid question put by a presenter on BBC this weekend.

Are radical Muslims the new Nazi's ?

(Obviously, not ALL Muslims, just the few radical ones)

I watched the disturbing pictures this morning of around 200 Iraqi soldiers who were captured by ISIS whilst in their barracks. They were then all butchered.

The depravity of mankind seems to be bottoming-out with the atrocities committed in the name of religion, and in particular, Islam.

As Britain, (formerly, Great Britain), tiptoes around human rights, and swerves racism, and allows Muslims to wear full face-masks, not just in public, but in airport departure points, (something that wouldn't have been tolerated during the decades of IRA activity)
Isn't it time to marginalise the radical groups/individuals ?
In the IRA case, Britain even used internment. But how do you combat an enemy, who have largely blended into the population, whether on these shores, or in foreign lands, and only make themselves known once the suicide bomb has detonated, the kidnap has occurred, or the streets are running in blood.(tips a nod to Enoch)

Am I scare-mongering, or are these radicals a significant problem ? 9/11, 7/7, 'The Muslim Patrols' in London, and now the mobilisation of militia who are causing atrocities in the name of Islam in the power vacuum created by western military withdrawl.

Would I have a happier life if I stopped reading/watching The News, or would I be complicit in ignoring issues outside my own tiny sphere of influence ?

Yes, you are scaremongering

A woman wearing a Charlie Hebdo T shirt was stabbed at Speakers Corner yesterday. The assailant got away so the motive isn't known.

I was reading a bit about a guy who interviewed Des Nilsen many years ago. Apparently Nilsen said that Hitler would have ultimately destroyed the world if he had won WW2, as he would never be satisfied with victory.
An interesting take on things by a psychopath.

It made me think about the motivation for very recent attacks in southern Africa by Islam extremists.
Can a religious ideology ne so powerful to send people to was and to kill/be killed ? Perhaps the Islamic fighters are so poverty-stricken, that warring for (potential) monetary profit is a good proposition.
Me thinks the puppet masters are using religion on the weak-minded in order to get them to do things,...else the motivation must be status/monetary gain. Big money has to be involved somewhere, as how else do the Islamists get the military hardware, resources, etc. ? They are warring for profit, because western countries have never done anything like that, have they ?

to also quote Nilsen, "Did God make man ? or did man make God ?"

So the assailant just happened to be walking around London with a big knife for culinary purposes, when this T-shirt spontaneously made them attack a woman.
