And would agree on the Stone Roses. not suggesting they are better albums, just ones I like more. I am well aware that coldplay's viva la vida is considered one of their worst albums. Black Sabbath...epic first album, the 2nd is the first played backwards and the rest just derivitive.

There's also a shed load of bands with one excellent album but the others are saved by just one or two stand-out tracks...but that's a different topic.

If you could have an album with 12 decent but non-anthemic tunes, or one with 3 epic anthems and 9 sh*te filler tunes on, what would you pick? I think i'd go for the latter.

Blur. Blur: The best of is (IMO) their only great LP, the rest are a mixture of very good, meh and awful. It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
