Following Mr Tymon's decision not to press charges, North Yorkshire Police said the force was still investigating the incident. A spokesman said: "Inquiries are ongoing." The same from the producer. The police however are still being knobs. Assault allegations do not require someone to pursue charges, only that an assault occurred. The whole 'pressing charges' is a cultural invasion from the US. Violent crimes do not require a victim to pursue them, its generally beneficial to the case, as the victim is usually one of the better witnesses. Often in assault determining who should press charges can be tricky, and sometimes its necessary to pursue charges without the victim (who can still be forced to give evidence under oath - facing perjury if they lie). The police are also not allowed to discuss any investigation, other than to say things like 'enquiries are ongoing', where charges may be pursued now or at a later date. Doing so prejudices any trial.
Surely its their job though to investigate crimes that are reported, even if its in the media. Although soon each police officer will be conducting an inquiry in to allegations that the met police covered up child sex allegations (another 7 announced to day by the IPCC).

Sums up the agenda against someone forthcoming with right-wing banter while Two-Jags was a hero. Edited by johnfirewall (27 Mar 2015 11.42am) Two Jags had himself just be the victim of an assault by eggs, rather than being offered a cold egg salad.

Is there anything more pitiful than sending death threats to someone from behind a keyboard? Over what? The perception that a man got your favourite TV program cancelled?! Get a f***ing life. Well, only having top gear as a 'favorite' program. It was watchable, for a Sunday evening, after dinner kind of gentle wind down. But it was hardly worth breaking the law for. Not very funny, not very interesting and not very informative. Occasionally amusing. Basically it was a watered down version of Roger Mellie the man on Telly.

Television presenter Sue Perkins has quit Twitter after receiving death threats following speculation she could replace Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear. The Great British Bake Off presenter revealed on Tuesday that someone had said "they'd like to see me burn to death". Writing on Twitter, she denied she is to replace Clarkson and announced she was leaving the social media platform.
