Surely we can say to Cabaye that if he wants to see our ambition maybe he can have a word with his mate Loic and see if he fancys joining him....

As i've said before on this thread i think Cabaye is waiting for other clubs to show interest. In my opinion it's getting to the point we give him a deadline or the deals of. We are giving him the chance to play for a top ten premier league club and to prove himself worthy of a place in the French squad for next years euro's. I'd give him till friday or the deals off. Blimey you make it sound appealing. If you want our club in its current status to sign a player of his ability then at times you have to blow a little bit of smoke up their bumhole to achieve the required result. Pardew and CPFC2010 will know this and will be pulling the moves to get him to join. You can understand why he might have his doubts. He should be playing for a standard above us and West Ham.

Our success in recent years has been built upon team spirit and bringing in players that considered joining Palace a step forwards in their careers and bought into the ideals and values of the club. I'm not sure Cabaye is going to do that.
He's waiting to see who we add to it before making a decision. Apparently. Or waiting to see who else comes in that can offer a better deal. He's already acting the '' big fish '' and he seems to think he is worthy of a bigger pond. Will that sort of attitude fit in with the current group we have ? Open question....

Once upon a time he joined Newcastle and discovered that they were a club without ambition. Can you blame him for being a bit more cautious this time and asking for proof?

It got him a move to PSG....where he has failed to impress.

If he hasn't even had the opportunity talk with Pardew/Parish yet it is totally understandable heisgoing to keep quiet and keep his card ose to his chest. At 29 this is probably the most important move of his career. Why wouldn't he want to take his time and get it right?

Waiting for us to show transfer ambition is all well and good but if every player demands the same then we won't sign anybody. Just sign you b******! There aren't many midfields in the division with as much attacking flair as Zaha, Bolasie, Puncheon and Cabaye could have.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |
