Having been billed as the eventual replacement for Leighton Baines at Everton, Garbutt, despite some fine performances, is out of contract in the summer.
He's a very good Left Back and despite our capture of Souare, this is a position that still gives rise to the occaisional problem.
Liverpool are reported to be preparing a move for him and I'd be surprised if they're the only ones.
I don't know what his wages are but Everton are pretty strict in that area. The prospect of regular games would probably be the best lure if we were to go after him. He's 22 today so there's every reason to expect him to get better with increased playing time.
Got to be worth at least an inquiry.

Has looked classy every time I've seen him play (which admittedly isn't that much). But decent left foot and could be a good squad player to compete with Souare.

He takes free kicks over a wall and his delivery from set pieces is very good but we aren't looking for a left-back.

Well Willo we should be.

IF Kelly is going to play CB we need cover at LB. Fryers hardly inspires confidence especially as he was mainly an unused sub for two Championship sides and Rotherham even went out and loaned another LB to replace him!

A very good young player like Garbutt would be a fantastic coup for us. This young man ticks all the boxes for me.

Mings although we'd pay more for would offer cover/competition for both CB and LB though.

I mentioned Garbutt in the 'If u could sign 3 this summer' thread, but only as a loan.

As much as I like the kid, the Evertonians like him more. Seems to be a common thought up there that they sell Baines for big money and let Garbutt take the starting role. Not sure they would be willing to lose him.

Well if he is out of contract then they do not have much say in the matter, They can offer him a new contract but if he does not sign it he is off wherever he pleases.

Obviously due to his age a fee will be payable to Everton should he leave either agreed directly with them or settled by the tribunal.

I find it strange that if they want him to stay and or that he wants to stay that his contracts issues remain unresolved two months before its expiry.

i think he wants first team football so i suggest going anywhere that he will not be first choice will not suit. He is a good player from what i have seen and i think would be a good buy and is at present better than what we have so should be first choice

Garbutt's off to the Czech republic with England's U21 squad so he's going to be 'in the shop window' for a couple of weeks. Everton have fielded an even younger LB in Brendan Galloway....it does look as if Martinez has mismanaged something with Garbutt. He's not another Gareth Bale although he could be another Ashley Cole but with hopefully a better taste in women.

Once Baines got injured they started to play Garbutt but he hasn't signed because he wants to play and not be number 2 or even 3 LB behind Oviedo. Because he hasn't signed they then dropped him and started to play their younger LB who they signed from MK Don's academy last summer. Think he is out the door but to who no one knows. Could easily be our number 1 left back for years to come or sold for big money, think he will be better then Shaw and become number 1 left back for England

Bournemouth and Swansea have offered deals to Garbutt.
Everton are still trying to retain him, according to The Liverpool Echo, with a season long loan-out being part of the deal so he gets to play more often. it can't exactly make him feel 'loved', can it? He'll move, I'm pretty sure.
I hope someone from Palace is at least talking to him.

Garbutt has signed a permenant deal at Everton but still looks to be loaned out for next season. The loan to Bournemoth won't be happening as they've already sorted out their LB problem.
It seems to me that Palace could do a lot worse than securing his services for the season. That LB position is still 'a cause for concern'.
