Would be a good signing, would hope to get him for £7m or under. At present, if Bolasie and Zaha don't fire/one gets injured we are in trouble in attack. Would provide real quality as an alternative and keep them on their toes, whilst playing a slightly different game based on distribution and finishing rather than trickery and raw speed which gives us another dimension. Philips ould,score,a few too, so adds to overall fire power

I wanted us to sign him from Blackpool when he sold zaha originally, Now in all honesty to expensive, and not at all worth the 12m fee being banded about.

Yes exactly. If one of our wingers gets injured or loses form, who replaces them? Gayle has shown he's not effective there and Punch is much more effective infield these days. We'd probably also benefit from someone coming in to put some pressure on those two (like Ince did 18 months ago) to keep them on their toes! Having said that, we definitely need another CB too.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Matt Phillips ' by Moose Apparently Bamford can(has) play down the wing and if we don't get a decent side to loan him we have Kaikai too. Parish has said 3 of 5 targets have come in. I'm thinking that the other two targets are a permanent Striker and a CB* - not a winger. Also with him saying he's not planning on breaking the transfer record again this season and Ferdinand wanting £12m I can't see this happen. Although like everyone else, if we can get him for players plus cash I'd be more than happy. *if reports of our enquiry about Chester are true then a CB is at least one of thos etwo positions.
