in sainsburys last week food shopping with the missus, saw "shippams paste" it's years since I have had that, so chucked a couple of jars in the basket, had some the next day, crikey I had forgotten how good it tasted, especially on crackers, loving it...... Again!!!

Poor man's pate. But infinitely better than sandwich spread.

Now is this the same as "Gentlemans relish"? I had a childish laugh as I popped a jar into the trolley a few years back, but the grin was wiped off my face when I got back home and tried it!

Shippams used to have a factory in Chichester. I remember that it had a large clock on the outside, and, if I recall correctly, a bulls head nearby.

Doubtless it's now made in China.

Or Wigan.

Grew up eating 'paste' many times through the 70's. I rediscovered my youth around 3yrs ago.
'Sardine & Tomato' on cold buttered (never marge!) toast with black pepper.

Long live paste

Had mackerel in tomato sauce in buttered toast with black pepper for lunch. It's a lovely little snack!

Used to quite like sandwich spread, even though it looked like vomit!

Far from it and pate is hardly expensive.
It's just different.

Ring any bells? I'm going to get some this week and relive my childhood.

In dog beers I’ve only had one.
