After some advice from our NY based fans - or anyone who has been there really! I'm there 21/08-28/08 and was hoping to catch a football game. Would you believe that all 5 games played in that period by NY City, NY Red Bulls and NY Cosmos are all away!! Ice hockey and basketball are both close season. I then looked at baseball, watched some on TV and didn't have the foggiest what was going on (not a fan of cricket either - I'm sure there's a connection there......somewhere...) Anyway, I'm struggling to find another NY based football team, are there any? Is there another local team at the same level as the Cosmos? Is there a standard lower (without rocking up to a Sunday morning game (or the US equivalent)? Or is baseball a sport you can only really appreciate whilst watching it live? Cheers

yeah if you're going to a yankees game, be warned that the stadium smells like piss + vomit + burned hair. if you're going to do the baseball thing, go all in and do a yankees and mets game. then report back. there's a big difference in the clientele.

Thanks for all the advice - both for and against! Although we did have a Yankees game pencilled in - sorry Mets, well, not really Might just rock up to the stadium on the day and see what they've got going. I know tickets are cheap enough if you want to sit miles away. Got a ton of other stuff on anyway. Just gives me a reason to convince the wife we need to go back another time to catch some ice hockey & basketball
