Thinking in terms of drama series 1) Breaking Bad 2) X-Files 3) Dexter 4) 24 (especially earlier seasons) 5) The Outer Limits (the second tranch) But if I were to include sitcoms etc, I'd probably be inclined to add Dad's Army, Peep Show and Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads somewhere.

I love 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia', I'm just very wary of recommending it to anyone. Its genius to manage to produce a sitcom in which you actually hate all of the main characters, and still be genuinely laugh out funny.
