John Bonham - the infamous Moby Dick...

This video also showcases Jimmy Page's brilliance on lead guitar as well as Bonzo's drumming expertise.

Hard to argue against this suggestion - his brilliance was that he could play quickly but also play in a stripped back style which is incredibly hard to do. When the levee breaks being an excellent example of this.

I'd also give mentions to both Mitch Mitchell and Mick Fleetwood.

Well said.

I've seen a comment on youtube about Bonham saying he was sh1t because he cheated by having two snares - LOL.... he's still gotta hit the fcuking things at the right time!

Look at the Guitar Heroes thread - I've posted a video link for Nils Lofgren.

Watch the drummer on that video - I don't know who he is but by christ he can drum/keep a beat.

For me,as an aspiring semi-pro drummer in my teens, Keef Hartley was a fine drummer and my first inspiration. He used dynamics effectively and used a variety of styles-jazz, blues, rock & Latin etc. In terms of drum breaks, Buddy Rich had the greatest technique we will ever see. Dave Clark of the Dave Clark 5 was pretty basic, but always looked extremely happy, whereas most drummers have a "drummer's face" while they're playing: Buddy Rich snarled, (in keeping with his personality).

Must be one of the most 'musical' drum solos ever.
