Interesting article about the feeling towards the EU from the rest of Europe since Brexit

Where Alot of people predicted the demise of the EU and other countries would follow our lead, much the opposite is true, approval rating for the EU is up, they see the disaster that has ensued and political turmoil over here and dont want the same, polls even saying around 70% would vote to remain

[Link]

Who would want the endless s**t show of brexit, a salutary lesson to the other members of the EU.

Every time it gets near the British PM is off to Brussels to beg for more.

Then we go & dumb it down by having Social security or goverment forms translated into multiple languages.
If you go & live in other country at least have the courtesy to try & learn the language, & before anyone pulls the old 'Well Brits in Spain don't bother' chestnut out of the bag that applies to them as well.
Imagine living in the UK for 20+ odd years & not learning English? Well this happens there was a case a couple of years back when a pakistani taxi driver from somewhere in the East Midlands was being accused of rape/sexual assault, the case had been adjourned 3/4 times & it transpired much to the Judges dismay & anger that they couldn't find a translator in time because the defendant couldn't (be bothered is my guess) speak a word of English !!!

I think you are probably out of date and steps have been taken to address the past weaknesses.

These days to get a visa, for family reasons, study or work, you need to pass the IELTS tests in English. These will be done abroad before your first visa is granted and again here. If you seek residency then you will have to pass 2 further tests and also the "Life in the UK" exam which tests your knowledge of British culture. Sample tests can be found online. I would bet many of the contributors here would struggle with some of the questions!

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

At least one of those contributors on here would struggle with any religious questions. Also, days of the week.
Seriously, what arrogant old codger you are.. not the first time you have insulted those who disagree with you...

Waiting for long winded repeated ,oriented response...

For those who constantly need to explain themselves

Very true. All the other countries that wish to escape the EU's clutches will have learned a salutary lesson in how not to do it

They don't, they see the folly of Brexit and support for EU Membership has strengthened.

I can assure you that I most certainly am not. I have spent several years living in the Philippines which as you probably know is a predominantly Christian country, mostly Catholic but with a growing number of evangelicals. There are though some large areas, particularly in Mindanao, which are predominantly Muslim, but smaller communities are found everywhere.

In Cebu, where I lived, it was the Catholic Churches who made the most noise. They are quite unlike what we find here. They are often full to overflowing so broadcast to the neighbourhood. They often play loud pop music for an hour before a service just to wake people up and make them aware that they need to prepare to come to Church.

It's a different culture. Here we would regard such things as an invasion of our privacy. There they believe they are doing you a favour by sharing their activities with you for free. Neighbours play karaoke at all hours, at maximum volume and bass, and simply don't understand why you might protest.

According to national religious surveys, about 5.6% of the population of the Philippines is Muslim, making Islam the second largest religion in the country
That's roughly 10.7million people.

A few mosques are located in Cebu City, including the Cebu Muslim Mosque located in Mambaling and the Green Mosque located alongside Creekside Street. The Cebu Muslim Mosque can be " EASILY SPOTTED" on the road leading to Labangon and faces the Shopwise Mall across McDonald’s.

In those several years that you lived with that diverse culture, did you by any chance notice what any of those 10.7million did on a Friday?

Because the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic etc are all increasingly less Eurosceptic? I see a mass movement across the continent to return to sanity.

I don't care what data or poll you use I don't believe a word of it (there is so much disinformation flying around it's scary and people are starting to notice). I guess it's possible that the number of new immigrants (after all, what reason would they have to be Eurosceptic) is outpacing the rate at which people are waking up to the problems in the EU but I still doubt this.

The EU will fail quicker than most people anticipate.

Indeed we shouldn't have asked the thick public and just left! Who needs a referendum when the majority want to leave!

They may well see the folly in the way that the UK has messed up it's Brexit but not necessarily the concept.

Once we have left and made a success of life outside of the EU there well may be a procession of other countries wishing to leave
