But they rebelled regarding something that basically has killed any chance of the UK getting a better withdrawal than the one repeatedly rejected by Parliament. Boris Johnson was absolutely spot on with his tactics with the EU who were starting to believe that he would carry No Deal through. It was music to my ears as a leaver. This deserved the support of Parliament irrespective of their personal views on BJ. If not all then at least including the rebels plus those who were prepared to put this fine Country first before politics.
BJ quite rightly is prepared to be led around Brussels like some poodle and with it the UK being further laughed at.
I will repeat once again that the views and votes of the 17.4million who voted leave have not been given priority. This could well lead to civil unrest and if so the MP’s should have a serious look at themselves. SHOULD HAVE BACKED YOUR PM.
As for the rebels go and find another party in fact to be specific the LibDems as they wish to block Brexit.
Taking No Deal off the table merely prolongs the uncertainty and with it suffering of many businesses.
Finally, it would have been LEAVING the EU with no deal and NOT ‘crashing’. Just thought it worth clarifying.

May I congratulate you Sir on an excellent post.
I pay you the respect the zookeeper has for his hungriest cheetah.

Even those in favour suggest that it could be 30 years before the damage is repaired.

With the pace of change 30 years is several lifetimes, so really long term.

Based of BoJo's own words I just can't imagine him asking the EU for an extension. But at the same time, there is likely to be an election in November now I'd say, and I doubt he'd want to step down when potentially it could result in him being prime minister for 5 years. A tricky situation. Three years plus in, and the next twist and turn still remains an unknown.

Willo, in all my years on here I have never received such a compliment and one with a David Attenborough theme.

If I am ever looking for a change of career this could tick a box.

Thank you!

We cannot be certain of this given the two-thirds rule.
At the end of the day Labour,Lib Dems, SNP etc etc just want to stop Brexit and make it as uncomfortable as possible for Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party. They are playing party politics,NOT respecting the result of the referendum and sticking two fingers up to the 17.4 million who voted to leave.

One is left with the impression that these parties would vote down ANY deal that Boris agrees with the EU.It would appear that the only way we would achieve Brexit is with NO deal, resorting to WTO rules and not "Crashing out" which is the emotive rhetoric and hyperbole of those hell-bent on keeping us in the sclerotic EU.

On Question Time last night Emily Thornberry rather bizarrely stated that if they were in power, they would seek a better deal, that they would then put back to the people, while campaigning to remain?!? So I'd say I'm definitely in agreement that there is no plan really, other than to throw enough spanners in the works to make this government unworkable.

On the flipside of that we've been back to the country under Theresa May and it's the way we've voted that has allowed for a parliament that can behave this way. As time pans out the Theresa May snap elections looks more and more disastrous in terms of the stalemate situation that's some about.

With all that said, through one mechanism or another I do see a November election as being quite likely. It appears to be the intention to either make Boris jump ship, or humiliate himself in the run up to that. Should he be forced to ask the EU for another extention and refuse to do so, but remain in his job I have no idea what that will mean. Or if we would drop out of the EU as result. Lots of unknowns right now.

As a matter of interest what makes them loony? Presumably they are far less palatable than the highly impressive Johnson and his acolytes and the similarly impressive Corbyn and his.

For me, I will never forgive their betrayal over student fees, Clegg forgot his principles to gain a bit of power.
They are demanding a 2nd referendum but Jo Swinson has stated if the result is again to leave they would not honour it...how democratic of the Liberal Democrats

Jeremy Corbyn’s having repeatedly called for a General Election did not agree to Johnson's request for one wittering on about preventing a 'No deal'.

One would think that the best way to avoid a No Deal Brexit, would be for him to become Prime Minister, and the only way that can happen is for him to win a General Election. Then he can make sure it doesn’t happen. But Labour knows it’s very unlikely that they would win it.
