Scotland, until they're allowed another independence refendum, is an integral part of the UK. Whilst that continues to be the case, their clamouring to remain in the EU is about as relevant and pointless as the inhabitants of Manchester, Haslemere or Chipping Sodbury doing the same thing.

I think the SNP will likely get more support out of the Brexit decision, given the proximity to their independence referendum, and the outright rejection across Scotland for leaving the EU - or they'll negotiate a deal with the EU to remain part, whilst functionally also part of the UK (possible as part of the EEA or some such).

The SNP do not have a majority in Holyrood.

Nicola Sturgeon want's to implement the democratic will of the Scottish people who voted 62% to remain by not leaving the EU or, at the very least, the single market. As someone who cares about 'democracy' so much I take it you would respect her stance?

Catch is, of course, it could scupper one or two things but as democracy is king that shouldn't matter.

What a lot of hogwash.
Scotland were voting as part of Britain. Sturgeon is only interested in the future of her self and her party.

So, basically, if they (the Scots) have the legal right to take 'Out' proposals to their own Parliament for scrutiny, are you of the opinion that the will of the 62% of Scottish people via their MPs should be ignored if they don't give the proposals the thumbs-up?

And a very small part of Britain/UK too.

Scotland's population is about 7% of the whole UK population.

So as Cucking says... it is no more relevant than somewhere like Greater Manchester.

Your assessment of Sturgeon is spot on.... she is an opportunist too and milking this situation for her own agenda.

Scotland is an insignificant part of Britain in terms of population and it is scandalous that they can influence Parliament with a tiny proportion of votes.
They want their haggis and eat it. Jimmy Krankie can shove her self serving bagpipes where the sun don't shine as far as I'm concerned.

Ok, fair enough. So legally, if they have the right, it seems you are of the opinion that democracy for Scotland and the will of the Scottish people should be ignored.

You must imagine though that it would also feel scandalous to the hefty majority of Scots who want to Remain that they may be forced to Leave.

It is understandable surely to even the most ardent Brexiteer who does truly care about democracy that they do have a point. And, possibly, a legally binding one.

We shall see.

No. It was the will of British people to vote Brexit and the will of the Scottish people to vote to remain in the union.

But, out of respect for democracy, you will accept their own legal democratic rights should they have them when it's put up before the judiciary, i would hope given your previous on the importance of democracy.

Sounds like hiding behind process to me.

When the Scots voted to remain in the Union the knew full well that we could leave Europe. If they didn't, then that is their own fault.
