Seriously, come on, paedophilia is a much higher problem within the male population, I would say it's almost none existent within the female population. Female paedophiles/child killers are so rare that they go down in history among the most infamous criminals.

About 20% of sex offenders in the UK are women, according to the Lucy Faithful Foundation (who work specifically with victims of female child sex offenders). If that's true, that would mean around 64,000.

Police think its between 5% and 25%, but have recorded rises in sex offences by women against children. LFF work with victims of abuse, specifically those abused by women, which does put them in a good position to determine.

Very few convictions seem to occur, around 5% of convictions are of women, but that's rising.

Its also less likely that abuse by women would be detectable, believed or prosecuted as well - especially where offences were committed against boys in their teens.

And without excusing what they do they are usually working alongside a male that they are fixated, obsessed, Controlled or even abused by.
Genuine question has there ever been a woman who has been convicted of paedophilia who worked entirely alone or a female only pedophile ring ?

Thing to remember is that paedophile rings are rare, and often a construction of the media in some cases (ie people who share p***.graphy as opposed to sharing in direct offending). Most abusers work alone and use technology to share or communicate. The internet has just made that easier. Most of these people aren't getting together.

I suspect that many women have been getting away with it. Certainly groups working with families think that is the case, notably that abuse may well not be reported to the police but to social services and resolved in family court rather than criminal court.

I think that its an area that will be exposed over the next few years, with a lot of research in that areas seeming to suggest a much higher pattern of abusers than would be expected. Criminologists and forensic psychology in this area is turning up the likelihood that its far higher than believed.

These stats won't distinguish wether the crime was committed by a hebephile or a paedophile which is a massive difference in the crime committed.

It definitely can do, I agree with that, however that doesn't preclude them from committing criminal sexual acts against children, whether they are pre or post pubity - The problem seems to me, more that we as a society have been overlooking sexual offences against children committed by women.

How many Cub/Scout leaders have been exposed as wronguns? Too many. You are right to be cautious. I wouldn't let my kids anywhere near them.
Male Children's entertainers,Catholic Priests are also on my steer clear list.
If that offends anyone tough.

If you are just going on statistics/odds, would you leave your children with members of your family?

I didn't realise how lucky I have been until I read this thread as I spent many years in the scout movement from junior cub upwards and emerged unscathed and unmolested but perhaps paedophilia is a modern phenomenon.

Incidentally I would be interested to compare the statistics for paedophilia convictions amongst scouting leaders to criminal convictions amongst football supporters as people might not want to let their kids go to football matches if they are surrounded by low lives

Good post. To be fair I never said that you was all nonces, would just expect there to be a higher proportion than in everyday society. Anyway fair play to you for giving your time , for I'm assuming no pay? But i still won't be sending my boys.
Cheers.

Thanks, there is no pay but in my group we are sponsored so have no expenses. I started as a helper as my son's group needed more assistants to maintain a responsible leader/young person ratio. I moved through the organisation with him and stayed. Where else can I go sailing, kayaking, canoeing, shooting, climbing, carting, back stage at Selhurst Park, plus much, much more for nothing😀

Forget what the pc brigade tells you, even tho you could be wrong, There's nothing wrong with sterotyping. it's a human instinct that could keep you and your family safe.
If I had to chose between a black guy in his 30's looking after my kids and a white guy in his 50's, I would pick the black guy 100%, the same as if I had the choice of 2 different routes, 1 with a group of black teenagers with hoods and caps and the other a group of Chinese teenagers I would go for the route with the Chinese kids. Anyone who tells you they don't stereotype are either lying or stupid.

Tell me do you understand irony, or is it too bigger a word ?
