For a tweet he sent out which some of you probably saw doing the rounds yesterday. He is, according to his Twitter profile, a Palace fan.

Undoubtedly a stupid tweet and a stupid comment, but inciting racial hatred? Really?

I plan to confront the owners of Twitter and ask them to explain it, obviously.

A mealy mouthed response

No it is indeed heavy handed and a lot of the stuff he's put up since then is worse from the look of it. It's gone viral though so I imagine they've decided to make an example of him. Some of the responses/parodies are quite amusing.

I think its being conveniently reported as 'racial hatred', when the actual legal bill is the 'racial and religious hatred' act. It certainly fits that element of the legal definition.

Whether they can actually get a conviction due to proving intention, is another matter (which likely would be related to other statements). But I don't necessarily think the police are unfounded in arresting him.

A non story.

An idiot makes a stupid comment to a Muslim women going about her business.
It would be surprising if the Muslim community did not feel some backlash from the current situation but it would be even more surprising if the world did not contain thoughtless idiots who are only brave enough to badger innocent women.

I think it's also a non story as he most likely didn't go up to anyone but just pretended to on Twitter. Not sure if this makes him better or worse though.

I do like the responses to his Tweet though.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

This is very true, what perplexes me is why someone would think approaching someone they didn't know would actually elicit any kind of reasonable response.

Initially saw it posted by a Millwall mate with the added dig that he was one of ours.

The guy rephrased and said 'confronted' was a strong word. Of course it was nothing to do with the woman but why was he arrested for what was ultimately asking a Muslim about the attacks?

I think I started a 'Twitter abuse' thread on here which catalogued arrests which seem to be for this new crime which often requires far less of a abuse element than any you might see committed in the street or away from social media.

Nice waste of police time and money.

This is just an attempt at bravado obscured by stupidity and as someone else said it probably never even happened. Just let everyone who is on twitter tear him apart.

So any random Muslim should have knowledge and explain the reason for the attacks by IS?

I'm sorry but that is Kinda racist in a way

Then starts singing rule Britannia and no more Muslim Migration

Grow up !! an embarrassment of a Palace fan

It does display a shocking level of ignorance about Islam and Muslim religion. I bet he didn't get that right either. Bet he only knows the chorus / refrain. Lyrics.com couldn't provide me with the words to No More Muslim Migration, sadly.

Sorry to be a pedant, but you can't be racist against a religion.

As I said, the bloke is clearly a bit of a tool, but I'd love to see how many 'real' crimes were not investigated while they were sending plod round to a fantasist to arrest him for giving it the biggun on social media.
