Some people are forgetting that Murray had a very decent career banging in goals down the lower leagues before coming to us at pretty much his prime. Wickham had a good season at 16 in the Championship and was then snapped up for big money to the Premiership. He has had nowhere near the game time in the lower leagues in competitive matches to build as a player but at 23 he is still young. He's basically learning his trade in the top tear of football in a team that creates very little for him to feed off. Most of his goals last season show he knows where the net is and has the instinct a striker needs, now with Benteke he had a striker with more experience but who plays a very similar role to learn off and take the pressure off him.

Take on board your points - but 23 isn't terribly young and immature given today's game (Deli Ali is 20)? I agree he can strike the ball and scored a couple of good goals last season, but he has an immobile style which neither helps himself when easily marked or the team in servicing him. I don't believe that he reads the game well either and always seems to react too late. We'll see if he learns from Benteke - personally I can't see that it will change his game - because although you say that he is young, his style of play is already ingrained even at at his age and I don't think he's got what it takes.

Fair enough, i really dont think there is is any substitute for game time in competitive leagues though. Alli had 4 seasons with MK before going to spurs, 2 of those with 30+ games. He also has a wealth of quality around him now and some players do develop very quickly or are just exceptionally gifted at an early age. Wickham didn't get bought young because he was no good though did he? Last season was very hit and miss for him, every time he hit a bit of form he either got injured or got the suspension. I think there is a decent player there but he needs quality around him to push him to te next level which he hasn't really had. I don't think hes had enough time with us to decide and for value for money, at this point, I think we've certainly had far worse strikers than him.

I agree and if paired with Benteke,we could see the start of a fantastic high scoring partnership, which will be so positive for all of us,fingers crossed.

Delle Alli is the exception and not the rule though. Not everyone breaks through ready to play as an international.

Last season Wickham showed he is more than capable when given the opportunity and a run of games.

Why is CW often drifting around out on the wing and taking throw-ins, in the final third of the pitch? Shouldn't he be in the middle of the pitch when we are crossing?
Strikers need to be somewhere near the penalty spot when awaiting crosses, not hugging the touchline.

Presumably, he's been told to do that? It does seem rather odd because, as you point out, you'd expect the striker to be in the box. Hopefully, that's all changed with the arrival of Benteke but we shall see!

We have seen how good he can be no question he is a very good striker. I believe he is holding back because he is feeling an injury its very hard to commit yourself 100% when you are in pain. I would not like to defend a set piece with Wickham, Benteke, Dann, Delaney and Ledley in the box.

I really hope we dont sign Benteke it will be a disaster
With Townsend in the team CW will score a hatful
As for once he will finally get a decent cross

Are you Connor's Dad?

Benteke has signed and made a good start converting a deep cross from Wilf into a goal against Boro.

When do you anticipate Connor submitting a transfer request?

cw is now back up for benteke. I doubt to become a strike partner.

I think the notion of two up front will be dropped til remy is back.

he's a good solid prem squad player.

Wickham is crap. When he signed for us for 8mil I thought to myself, that good money down the drain...When he's not scoring goals which is more often then not he's injured (at least then he has an excuse) Playing him is like playing with 10 men

I deduce that unfortunately your opinion is bollocks (meaning factually incorrect). So, he is either not scoring goals or injured. Lol. I would agree that playing him if he is injured is wrong, like playing with 10 men

With benteke arrival, connor now back up. He had his season to impress. Unfortunately for him, he suffered injuries and is unlikely to dislodge benteke.
