He recalls what he describes as his best-ever goal - scored for the Glaziers v Nottingham Forest. There's a lovely pic in the paper of PB and Cliff celebrating.

Mud, the FA Cup and a 41,000+ crowd.

Happy days!

I remember that Forest match very well. For some reason we played in our tangerine second strip. That photo also confirms the memory I had of Cliff Holton wearing gloves for that match - common now but not then.

I remember that goal as a volley as he was falling, absolutely rocketed into the net. Cliff Holton's goal was a powerful strike too. I think it was David Burnside scored the opener, although it may have been Dickie Dowsett.

One of my favourite players. I remember him scoring the winner at the Old Den which prompted the expected response from the locals at a time when there was no segregation of fans.

This is Pete diving to head the winner at the Den - you can see him horizontal through No 9 Cliff Holton's legs.

That's Alex Stepney in goal and Harry Cripps falling over.

Pete told me what happened to him as he was leaving the pitch soon after this went in - again, not a surprise from our friends in New Cross. He was glad for a shower.

Thanks for posting that photo PPM, I remember that goal clearly. I was standing behind that goal about half way up the terrace. I think we were going for promotion and Millwall were struggling to avoid relegation and the goal was scored just before the end of the game. I was fifteen then and the aftermath of that goal is the single most frightening experience I've had at any game.
