So the French, German and Australians think we've been cheating because we've whupped their arses at the Rio velodrome? Our success has come about thanks to the money raised by Lottery funding which has enabled us to appoint the best coaches, have the best equipment and fund research for innovation like aerodynamics, cadence and bike design as well as cycling suits and shoes. Our squad look leaner and fitter than any of the opposition especially our girls. The Aussies, French and German girls had backsides like the Kardashians... not good for airflow. Get used to it.... we've already got great replacements/additions to our squad lined up for 2020 and we will dominate again.

Don't forget the Dutch, they've been having a dig too. Probably go into meltdown if we beat their girls in the hockey final too. The French used to get most of their medals in these sports until we took it seriously from 2000 onward. Now they're left with Judo. We peak at the Olympics and aren't exactly short of success in between. All about marginal games and one of the ones for this games, and this is actually true, was for the women to have a hairy bush.

I loved watching the cycling, even the difficult to understand points race that Cavendish (a hard man to like) came 2nd in. Very decent of the other countries to peak at the wrong time.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

They're lucky we didn't qualify a women's team sprint. Love Cavendish. He just says it as it is. Ask an abrasive question and he'll respond in kind.

I haven't read anything about sour grapes but I know it's out there. There are reasons going back a long way why we excel in cycling: - Back in 1992 we were pioneers in technology. Anyone remember Chris Boardman? I think they had input from Formula 1. - Some very talented scientists in that field in the UK. Unfortunately they leave for the US where the money is unless they're in motorsports or aerodynamics. - Most F1 teams are based in the UK because of F1. - We build up to the olympics and try things out before in other events and are prepared for failure. The others don't. The commentators ask Boardman about new ideas teams are trying out and CB answers, Yes tried that, doesn't work, or doesn't work enough to do it."

His original bike was made with help from Lotus cars. He has since worked with McLaren who also design a part of our rowing boats. And they don't patent any of it, they let the others catch up while they're working on the next thing already.

F1, military, aviation, science, fashion etc. Ignorance and expertise breaks boundaries I think they say. McLaren immediately questioned why the bars were a certain size, and the answer was I don't know they just are. So they tried different sizes out. Then there's the bits that aren't even on the bike, shoes, suits, helmets etc.

Didn't Team GB have some fun at the other team's expense at London 2012? I seem to recall that the same mutterings were heard there, as to how we had become so successful 'overnight'...... and when they brought the bike wheels in in bags, it started so much speculation that the rumour was put about by Team GB that we had designed a perfectly round wheel and it was this giving us the advantage
