Pardews empty promises?

Murray's the man Flag round ear 02 Sep 16 8.57pm

Ok so just listened to Kevin Day interview with Brentford podcast about his disappointment in Kaikai going out on loan again and his hope to see him breakthrough this season

I'm glad that a relatively well known fan has expressed something I think a lot of other fans feel.
I'm sure Pardew said he would be involved this season
A season long loan will if he stays all season, would make it necessary for him to be named in the 25 the following season to feature

Also, Pardew made a veiled threat to Johnny Williams to perform in the euros to get a chance this season. Well unless I'm missing something he did just that.
As there is a place available in the 25 I think Pards I being a bit vindictive

I believe that Pardew believes that acadamies wrap players in cotton wool. He said he felt like an outsider by the players who came through the academy when he joined us from non league

Anyway, want to thank Kevin Day for speaking up and expressing the joy a homegrown player coming through gives us fans. I started going to games in the late seventies, where we started a tradition that if we now abandon then it takes the joy out of it for me.

Zaha and Puncheon are carrying that torch for now, but they're not going to be here forever. Lets at least give those who have the club at heart at least a fair opportunity. Without Zaha, its debatable we would be here

Cheers

Johnny will return

Im all about giving players from the reserves a chance, but Kai Kai needs a year in the championship before he makes the jump and as much as I like him Jonny Williams will never make his mark in the first team, good euros or not he's just not good enough.. I do think Kai Kai wil but why give a youngster 10 mins every 3 games when he can play 90 mins week in week out, that's the best formula for development.

Both Kaikai and Boateng being sent away for the whole season signaled enough for me to hold him in contempt for our youngsters. Boateng in particular didn't look out of place against Swansea last year and would sure have put a season of gut busting than some who haven't so far. Give Kaikai the ball and at worst you have a scatty Bolasie, at best-who knows?
I have close friends who support his last 3 clubs and all 3 have said he doesn't believe in a youth system, instead wanting to buy experienced players in rather than be responsible for any young players making mistakes.
Shame really.

I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think.

I'd be more interested in what Darren Day thinks.

I think there is a difference between enjoying the success of a 'home grown' player and just forcing them in because of it.

Given the chance...I would love a squad of 25 born between Thornton Heath and South Norwood.

But I would rather finish tenth with Cabaye and Townsend in the team than 18th with Williams and kaikai. Neither is a certainty but you get the point.

KaiKai is not ready for the PL. He has huge potential but has yet to even kick a ball in the Championship. This season playing regular football at that level will be invaluable to him and to us.

Joniesta is a strange one, he just can't seem to get going with us without something or someone interrupting. Normally it's an injury and I did really hope this would be the season for him with us, but having picked up yet another injury in pre-season, I think it makes sense for him to go away for one last time and try and play a whole season without getting injured at a good club at a good level. Ipswich fans love him, and they play good football so he'll be a key player for them so if he can help Ipswich, maybe we can get the benefit next season - if not then I guess it will probably be time to let him go - there will certainly be plenty of takers.

It looks like there is a plan in place. Try the youngsters in League 2, then 1, then the Champs.

And I think it's a good plan. Kaikai looked good some preseason games, invisible in others (same with Ladapo). I'd rather he shine in the Championship for 90 than come on for 10 minute cameos.

JW has to show he can deliver regularly for 90min. It would be good if he can shine, but I'm doubtful.

Also looks like they may have kept a spot open to try to sign a free agent DM. Again I agree, Boateng is promising, but has to show consistency over 90 min.

Possible scenario 1: Pardew isn't putting Williams and Kaikai in the first team because he's being deliberately vindictive.

Possible scenario 2: Pardew isn't putting Williams and Kaikai in the first team because they're unproven at Prem level and aren't currently good enough, or would benefit more long-term by playing regularly in the lower leagues.

Now, personally I'd have kept Kaikai and Boateng at Palace, but only because our squad is so f***ing thin in their positions that we need someone, anyone as back-up. But I really don't get why every decision anyone disagrees with on here will get put down to Pardew being some kind of evil megalomaniac.

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I think Kaikai looks good whenever I've seen him (or video clips online). Certainly he and Boateng looked very good against Bromley a month or so ago. But that's just it... is looking good against Bromley enough given the quality of our first team squad these days?

But if... just what if... Kaikai were to come off the bench and do a Rashford? Alas, now we'll never know. Not this season at any rate.

Personally I think the point of loans out is to see if any of the players take off at the club and look like a player we would actually sign.

Lapado seems to have done just that this week and may it continue straight into our first team next year.
Anderson is at the right team and if goes well then he stands the same chance.

The problem comes when they play in a lower league and that would count against them.

Obviously playing in the Championship is an advantage but Joniesta competent at Ipswich has never quite made the right impression at Palace under several managers, he should permanently move to a club that loves him (nearly) as much as we do.

KaiKai is playing in the championship at Brentford and we can only hope that he lives up to expectation.

The aim for these is to knock our weakest players Appiah and Campbell out of the team

I think with the new rules scrapping emergency loans, to keep both Kaikai and Boateng to play bit part roles in our squad would have been immensely unfair on both. They're both at an age where they need to be playing regularly and whilst it would have been good to see them get minutes here and there, realistically would either have got into the starting 11? I think we chose the only option we had, and I am sure particularly in Kaikai's case, if he stars in the Championship this year he will definitely be in our manager's thoughts next season.
