Actually nothing to do with McArthur. That was just the pundits making anything up to justify not giving the goal. Pardew has just confirmed that the lino told him he flagged because he thought Damo was offside. Major howler

Then it was a bad decision though arguably the right one for the wrong reason. I think I would be annoyed if it had been the other way around and the goal was given though.

Good result in the end but free kick for their goal should have been indirect. Damo tried to play the ball but it was dangerous play as his foot was high. There was no contact so that's an indirect free kick.

Our 'goal' ruled out was technically correct decision as JM tried to play the ball in an offside position, but could their keeper have got anywhere near it? I don't think so - it's a very tricky area for the officials and all about their angles - a video referral would have awarded us the goal IMO.

Anyway we're going in the right direction. Benteke could be the best forward ever for us if he keeps doing what he did tonight!

One.(yup one) year ago I thought we were lucky to get the point. Now, against the same but improved opponent we get the same result save THEY Are the lucky ones.

Anyone who doesn't see that as improvement and room for optimism doesn't really understand the game

Quoted for truth.

We really are a much stronger side now. The whole club looks stronger now from top to bottom.

Even in the first half of Last season when we were flying high, I was waiting for us to 'do a Palace' and lo and behold we kinda tanked for the second half...

This season I don't think this will be an issue, I don't believe that we'll end up in relegation battle and am more confident of a top ten finish than ever before. (BTW I may have drunk an 'amount' of beer before posting this, blame the FA for agreeing to Friday night games!?)

Pards is doing just what he was hired for, the squad seem hungry and his recent tactics and subs have been pretty much on the spot.

[Disclaimer: If you are reading this at the end of the season and we have f*#ked up royally, please note the possibility that I may have imbibed a little more than earlier indicated.]

Harshly disallowed, McArthur was so close to Delaney that the ball was over and past him before he made any real movement. I think I'd rather he had Delaney mistakenly offside than McArthur attempting to play the ball, which was half-hearted at best.

Hogwash. It is easy with the benefit of SKY slo mo which the excellent referee and his assistants do not have.. You are all sheep.

Not really what I said. And not sure what DinG and Willo have to do with it. Crowded area, lot of players moving about so I can understand how the lino might have thought Delaney was offside, mistake easily made. But the ball cleared McArthur by a distance and was going a long way away from the keeper so never in his line of sight, if the lino thought that was offside then he was mistaken, again. So, all in all, a bit harsh. No need to be so touchy.

Fact is, the Lino flagged no goal as he thought Damo was offside which he wasn't so a mistake was made. All the other guff about whether McArthur showed intent or a reaction to a goal as it flashed past him is rubbish brought about by ex Toffee pundits Neville and Hutchison. If that were the case then Shearer should have about 50 goals chalked off his total from goalmouth scrambles

Yes. I originally posted on the linesmans favour. But you're right. it was a poor call and we should have won.

I am away and was out so only read about it today.
Sounds like we played well against a good side.
Confidence returning as well.
I am not eating humble pie yet re Pardew but I have turned the oven on!
Great stuff and long may it continue!
