Within my lifetime there has been:

Neil Armstrong setting foot on the moon - I just about remember that as I was only 5.

The three day week. Rubbish in the streets, power cuts etc.

Elvis Presley dying. My mum bawled her eyes out.

The Falklands.

Hillsborough, Heysel, Bradford.

The Yorkshire Ripper.

The Berlin Wall coming down.

Diana's death and the faux mourning the country went into.

9/11 - all in glorious live colour.

I've probably missed out loads. Anyone else have memories of major events in their lifetime ?

Don't remember all of them but, as well as the above:

Berlin Wall going up
Cuban Missile crisis
Kennedy Assassination (both)
Watergate
Aberfan
Vietnam
No such thing as mobile phones or the internet
Teachers at my school describing J Savile as 'a living saint'
Election of Thatch (the last General Election I couldn't vote)
