In my opinion, Delaney should start over him. I don't think Tomkins is very good at all. Not trying to find an excuse for yet another loss, but I have thought this for weeks, he is rubbish...

He is a decent defender but it turns out as I suspected he let his marker escape him for the goal from the corner and the final goal debacle. He needs sorting out. They either need a defensive coach or someone who demands high standards and concentration.

Poor today, poor against Leicester but we can't keep chopping and changing it at the back. Need to build a partnership between him and Dann.

He wasn't very good at West Ham and they let him leave for a reason. I still prefer Dammo over him.

Our defence is the problem for sure. We have let goals in badly for most of this season due to the back four making mistakes. I don't believe Tomkins and Dann are a good pairing. Dann is the better of the two and should be playing alongside Delaney. That's until we get a decent centre back to play alongside Dann. Perhaps we should put Tomkins at right back for a few games with Ward at left back. However a new centre and left back is urgently required in the next window. Until then we will struggle with our current defenders. It's no good playing well going forward as we have done in our last two and a half matches and shipping eight goals. Delaney and Dann need to stay as our main pairing in the middle but I do realise Delaney is coming to the end of a great Palace time - One of our best servants in recent times.

I think it's a tad early to assess Tomkins,but IMHO he is a quality centre back who,I hope,will soon show his worth. He has still yet to get much gametime with Dann,and yesterday had to contend with a weakened left defensive flank.I don't think I'm alone in my assessment of Kelly as a left back,and playing Chungy in front of him weakened the left flank further.This is not a critisism of Chungy,as this was not his best position and certainly not his best role. I think if Delaney had played he would probably have given away a couple of penalties in the first half alone.
