Just watched MOTD and they highlighted how for the second goal Hennessy was gesticulating that no one was on the near post ... but it was a very half-hearted attempt.

I'd liked to have seen him screaming at Cabaye or Puncheon to get into position.

We need at least one of the defending unit to be vocal in those positions.

... what

According to Pardew's excuse instructions of this sort come from the bench and any Chinese whispers that result from this are just tough s***.

Perhaps we should try carrier pigeons instead? Or maybe Kayla could help out.

Why do the players need messages ?
They're professionals they should now how to defend a corner.

You certainly would have thought at least one of the morons would've marked one of their biggest players...

If I understand it correctly this task was delegated to Wickham, but nobody told him. He is not a defender so at defensive set-pieces should reasonably come under the direction of those who are appointed to direct such matters, i.e. Dann and Hennessey.

Cf. whether the wall was or wasn't going to jump according to a) Mandanda (yes) b) Delaney (no) c) Dann (whatever he says) and d) Pardew (f*** knows).

Agree, but most people like to blame Pardew, as if he has to hold their hands during the game and they cannot think for themselves.
It was Cabaye fault, he had his back to the corner and was nearest to the near post and left it empty. Which was a shame, as up to then he was by far our best most committed player.

I actually thought Hennessy's strange waddle towards the near post was partly to blame for the goal, essentially leaving Toure an open goal whilst getting literally no where near to the ball.

Cabaye was 100% to blame. He had no spacial awareness even though the gap that needed to be plugged was only 6 ft behind him and he was marking no-one and didn't quite know what was going on.

Well, he did 5 seconds later when the ball was in the back of the net.

Too late Yohan.

Palace are not afforded the same space and time in opponents goal mouth areas from attacks, free kicks and corners so why the F%*K do we allow so much to every other team?

I thought we were going to move on from the awful defending of late but it seems we have not!

The players should all know their jobs, our captains a defender he takes immediate responsibility for checking that the organisation is correct, opposition players are marked and any dangers covered.
