Pardew -- when would you admit u were wrong?

I am one who wants Pardew IN. So let me be one to try and answer the question. I want him in because I feel we should try to wait it out a little longer. I think of how close Ferguson came to losing his job at United years ago. He turned it around at the last minute and went on to have a long and illustrious career. Now, I am definitely not saying Pardew is Sir Alex Ferguson but I would imagine their supporters were ready to see the back of him at the time. They stuck it out, and it worked out for them. There is a lot to be said for continuity in sports. If we can see it through perhaps we would have more stability in the end. Let's see if the supposed "plan" that AP and SP are working on has merit. I would be ready to drop Pards like a stone if my team ever again plays like it did against Swansea in my entire lifetime. That is by far the worst feeling I have ever had as a Palace fan. If we were to lose against Hull this week I would not like it, and that bad result might erode my patience a little bit. But it would not necessarily end things for me. However, if we were to ship five goals against one of the worst teams in the league... or if we looked completely disorganized... or if we look disinterested... that's when I would say enough is enough. We would be happy with what Ferguson achieved in the early years. (1986/87) 11 place. (1987/88 runners up, (1988/89) 11 place. And we all know what happened in 1990, Thats as wel as many other cup runs, totally different scenarios

Our defending was sloppy and riddled with errors but we did play with heart and came back from 3-1 down to lead 4-3. I've seen countless games over the decades where the team just didn't give a toss. This lot care desperately. COYP!

This is a great post and I hope people will be honest and fair with their answers. I was really supportive until the Swansea game and that turned me overnight. If I were the owner I would probably have considered a new manager but assuming Pardew had explained what went wrong and his plans for the next game I perhaps like parish would have waited to see what happened at Southampton. I am desperate for Pardew to do well and can see some real positives but defensively we've looked vulnerable. I'm backing him for now but need to see a decent run of results with the exception of the top 6 boys probably beating us. So I'm still a keen supporter and have not lost the faith completely so will not have been proved wrong if he does well but I am honest to say I did have a major wobble after Swansea.

If you look at our history and size of our club then finishing 17th is actually a massive over achievement. So no I don't get your point. Counting only top flight games, Pardew has the best win percentage than any other manager in our history and is only the 6th English manager to reach 300 games in the prem. Is he the greatest manager in the world, no, but his far better than most give him credit for on this board.

They put a run of good results together right at the end of the season.

To answer your question, I've stood in the freezing rain behind Budgie watching Jim Cannon crack people's legs all over the park. I think 51 years qualifies me. So yeah, I understand your point that bad results are a part of it all but this particular result was one that really drove me crazy. I was trying to answer the OP's question. Just my opinion.

Their fans were similarly frustrated, and he was headed for the chop. He was given a little more time to right the ship and it worked out. I'm hoping we enjoy the same result.
