'Animal Farm' and 'Down and Out in London and Paris' are not better than '1984'.

That's hipster double-speak. Nothing Orwell wrote really eclipsed '1984'. In fact very little written in the 20th Century eclipsed '1984', and in its genre maybe only 'The Handmaids Tale' really comes close.

So whilst those two books are very good, they're nothing on 1984, and only a double-speaking no good enemy of the state would say otherwise.

All the terrorist attacks/incidents that seem to happen in Britain have two things in common.

1) They are all wrongens
2) They are all from the British Isles.

This stabbing - British
Joe Cox murder - British
Lee Rigby murderer - British
7/7 Bombers - British
IRA/Ulster Unionist - (both as bad as each other) -Irish/British

Yet its always much easier to blame something external than look at the internal problems. So the press bang on about Immigration, the EU, Muslims etc.

Agreed. 1984 is a masterpiece of insightful fiction.

So much so that it is actually frightening.

In theory, but liberalism has become everything that it opposes.
It is the arrogance and lack of self awareness that makes it so dangerous.

Arrogance and lack of self awareness even if true arent arguments for liberals favouring big brother. Indeed one of the few principles that the party didnt rat on by going into coalition was in opposing attempts by May to increase BB and the surveillance state
