Is there any good reason to buy one over the other?

Or is there another alternative?

I like the idea of streaming to my telly but can't I just connect a HDMI lead from my PC?

I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like.

Nvidia shield is by far the best streaming box out there for power, speed and super reliable if you want to pay the money.Never had a chrome cast but the fire stick I had got so hot constantly that it kept freezing non stop. Fire tv is quite good too. I've had one of those loaded ones too that had great reviews everywhere online and it was an unreliable piece of crap so I stick to the trusted brands now like nvidia and amazon(not fire stick though)

I don't know about the alternatives but my nephew gave me a Kodi loaded firestick for my birthday last year.

I know it cost him £35 and he spent a couple of hours loading it and installing it.

I have Virgin's 200meg broadband package, so it works well on my TV.

Since then I have watched the whole series of GoT, Sopranos, etc., all the latest films (watched Jungle Book yesterday) and loads of live sport including Palace.

My experience is very positive and I would recommend one to anybody... it pays for itself in no time!

have 2 amazon fire sticks, brill bit of kit, a lot lot cheaper then the nivida shield, also its easy to sideload kodi on it, all the instructions are on the net, wouldnt bother paying extra for a preloaded one

i started off using a raspberry pi but have moved over to the amazon firestick.

films & footy stream in perfect hd 99% of the time using a 15mg broadband.

the firestick takes 10minutes to sideload the apps you need onto it

The services table is wrong. Now TV is available on Chromecast but not on Amazon. The table has it the wrong way around (although the article text is correct)
