This isn't a doom and gloom negative thread (and don't care if I get slated)It's actually the opposite. I think that we could benefit from going down and getting the infrastructure of the club up to scratch for a return to the top flight for years to come.
If we approach this correctly and positively much like Newcastle have then we will be fine for a swift return anyway.
But after today's result and performance we are definitely down. Benteke injured. Zaha away at Afcon. Dann, Jimmy Mac both out(not sure for how long). All the hard fixtures of the season still to come, I just think that we're getting to a point that it is impossible for us to stay up now.

'Get the infrastructure of the club up to scratch'? With a Championship revenue stream weaker than a f***ing pensioner's hip?

Don't be so negative. Our last manager kept us up twice. And the Manager before kept us up. This guy is better than both of them. Apparently. what's with the negative relegation stuff. We'll stay up. The posters on here said so.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

Southampton managed it. Brighton too.

It's not negative. I stated that. It's just being a realist.

Wasn't the Prem money and these Americans supposed to do up Selhurst Park?

Going down means we've done f*** all and these Americans own our club for nothing.

We would lose players like Benteke, Cabaye etc. That's good but would also lose players like Dann, McArthur and Zaha I think. That's defiantly not good.

We won't come up for a few good years but at least we shouldn't lose stupid amounts of games in a row.

Only hard fixtures because we make them !!Lots of winnable ones if Sam can get the players believing in themselves and performs miracles in the transfer market !!!

thing is though that Newcastle were actually relegated with a good squad playing well and the infrastructure already in place. They then got their transfers spot on in the summer actually leaving them with arguably a better squad than went down. None of those things would be true for us at the present time though a lot can change of course.

A better comparison for us right now is Villa from last year. A club that has lost its way a bit. Also if we went down we would certainly lose Zaha (if he doesn't go this window), Benteke, Dann, Townsend (though he's not been great), Cabaye (though he has also not been great) and Jimmy Mac. That is half the current first choice 11. It's also unlikely we'd be in a great financial position. If we do go down there is every chance we do a Bolton.

Think it's pretty obvious now that there's so much red tape around redeveloping selhurst that it won't happen in our lifetime.
