Just as I was typing out a reply to this he's popped up and scored for Spurs.

1000 times yes, really like him. Would love Trippier as well although that wouldn't happen.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Totally agree, always liked Trippier. He and Davies would be ideal for us.

We mugged ourselves. We didn't have to sign him. I still can't understand why we did.

He wont do much for us defensively. He was taking up some outrageous attacking positions but was being covered by his team mates something he could not rely on here

Now, if you go here.....he scored against a Championship team in a cup game and he didn't play as left back but as left wingback, closer to the opposite goal.

But what's really important...he scored only 3 goals and CROSSED FOR GOALS ONLY 6 TIMES in 8.400 minutes in the Premier League!!!!!

If one of us plays that long, we have all the chances to assist more times than this guy.

And for the national team he contributed with only an assist in 2.300 minutes (and no goals).

Yes, a defender has other things to do too, but a fullback has to run up the pitch, send in crosses and provide assists too.

I mean, come on, Ben Davies is NOT Premier League material. Even though he scored today. He'd be ok in the Championship.

He didn't have a GREAT Euro Tournament, as some have mentioned. He was in the same team with Bale, Ramsey and Robson Kanu. He was average. And you can't judge a player based on 5 games. 5 games!! Anything can happen in a fast tournament.

Judge him for what he's done in his entire PL career, that's 8.400 minutes. Of average to bad playing.

Just do this for me: do you remember one (ONE!) memorable match from Ben Davies? Thank you.

But is he one of the 2150 premier league players that is unahppy?

Well off the top of my head, Slovakia for a start

You like your stats. How many goals did Wales concede to Belgium in the qualifiers and finals? You know, the team that were seeded third in the world? -based on stats of course.

Davies is a good young player who will continue to develop. If you watched a few more games instead of quoting stats all the time you would realise that the stats you quote only forms part of a picture.

the Moneyball approach you like to take is flawed.

I just noticed in your criticism you used Kanu (his name is actually Robson-Kanu by the way) as an example of why Davies isn't very good. Couldn't make it up

Tell me what do you prefer from a fullback in 1 season: to make 5 BIG mistakes and to contribute to 10-12 goals?

Or to make NO mistakes but contribute to NO goals?

Since the 3 point for victory rule exists, I think it's better to win 5 games and to lose 5, than to draw 10.

Ben Davies might get you to draw 10 (actually he's not rock solid in the defensive either).
But he'll surely not help the team win 5.

FFS Wales don't exactly score a lot of goals so to criticise a full back for not getting enough assists??? That's just making a poor argument to make a player look bad.

He's a Prem quality player I've no doubt about that...what's more I doubt we even have a chance of signing him.

I think for us where scoring goals isn't the issue it would be nice to find players who can keep clean sheets and then we win more games by default.
