Why are we still trying to get two or three defenders over the line, when we desperately need creativity in the team? Sam's tactics seem to be to get as many back to defend as possible and lump the ball up to Benteke. It certainly hasn't worked so far. We need more pace through the middle and up front if we are to take games to the opposition, rather than sitting back and defending, with the usual dire outcome.

If Martin Kelly is still 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice for any position in this team then we still need more defenders.

It's the old adage RD - build from the back. You recall all the stats bandied around in the past about teams winning leagues based on low goals conceded rather than high goals scored. Until the end of the year we had no problem scoring goals. Trouble was, we were letting in buckets at the other end. With Zaha back, Schlupp on the other side and a bit more confidence that you gain from knowing there is a wall of steel behind you..?

Of course, I wholly agree with your post. However, I suspect SA will work on midfield creativity in the summer. It's all about priorities.
