Patrick van Aanholt played a great game against the Cherries. He's got the style and I'm finally beginning to believe we can pull off the great escape!

He panickex a bit on a couple of occasions but considering he was dropped into the team at sod all notice and slotted into Sam mode pretty well. Bit more composure and he should be excellent.

When I saw the heading, I thought it might've been a 'Song for van Aanholt' type thread... I know, it's Patrick van Aanholt ...but it isn't. It's great to have a proper left-back in the side though and very encouraging to see him get off the mark with a win and a clean sheet in his first game. It remains to be seen how he and Jeffrey Schlupp will fit into the same side, but competition for places can only be a good thing. Hope his positive start continues this weekend!

I'm not going to get carried away quite yet. Bakary Sako had a blinding first game too and I went OTT about how good he was/will be..... Encouraging debut by Van the Man, but lets hope this continues for a good while.
