For the record .... Early in the game, Benteke "had a go" at Wilf at the other end when he passed high across the goal. It may have been an easy goal for Benteke if kept low. Wilf acknowledged Benteke's gestures and it was all smiles thereafter. Nothing wrong with airing frustration. Clearly, the team have been told to pump the ball up to Benteke.

He's desperate to score goals. That's a goid thing folks.

He was class yesterday.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Agree with Benteke on this one. A simple square Ball to him would wrapped things up nicely. Instead Townsend went for goal with a shocker of a shot.

Townsends shots are actually on a par with Bolasie since he started playing for us. Guy is a terrible finisher.

No big deal though. Bit of fight and passion is good. No doubt they would of shook hands in the dressing room.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Benteke played well. AT played well. In the same position CB would have shot it was not an easy set up it needed a very good back post chip. CBs reaction at the end was poor i hope he made good with AT after the match.

I doubt benteke or any sane person would shoot in that position. No chance of scoring, greedy play and could of cost us. Should of crossed it to Benteke where he would of had a good chance of making it 2-0.

Townsend should of stood it up at the back post like at Bournemouth. Tekkers had made the run to the back and the centre halves went near. Townsend doesn't need goals to boosts his confidence IMO , but strikers do.
In a team all players do and should clear the air if they are frustrated by anything and Andros's desire to constantly shoot will wind some up from time to time.
Benteke played well yesterday IMO, but still needs the no.10 to be in and around him more to help create space. We really haven't addressed our chronic lack of a no.10 since the demise of Chamakh. Strange really for a team that play a system that includes one.

On a lighter note, I enjoyed the half time kids penalty shoot out when the six year old Benteke fan scored and did the knee slapping celebration.
Very Good.

I understand Benteke's fustration as Townend should have squared the ball to kill off the game

Fair play to their keeper for stepping in to seperate them before it got out of hand

It's possible to have an heated exchange with your mate and still be friends... I wouldn't think anything of it other than frustration and desire to score more goals; I'd look at this in a positive way.

Ideally a cross on to Benteke's head would be good, but it would have been difficult to pick him out with four defenders surrounding him.
Although it was a bit wild in the end I don't blame Townsend for shooting.I certainly don't think Benteke should be berating him,I didn't see anyone having a go at him when he made a complete hash of two penalties.
