A goalkeeper strives on confidence. There has been very little confidence in the team in general for the last year. A player like Sakho will have helped him immensely. As far as I'm concerned we have 3 excellent keepers who are all worthy of a starting place now.

Credit also to Martyn Margetson. New goalkeeping coach to replace Pie eating Andy Woodman will have helped WH undoubtedly.

YES YES
so much has changed
Confident catching
great positioning
And taking the free kicks
and with the defensive coaching they are a unit, no matter whose there!!
and you see him geeing up and communications with back four
Yes Hennessey wears the shirt with pride!!

Arguably he more got in the way of some shots than saved them as such and benefited because they were hit at him rather than to one side. He certainly kept us in the game though.

I will give you the benefit that you are not denigrating Hennessey's performance yesterday. I am not a Hennessey fan, he has too much of the calamity about him, but yesterday's performance was the best I have seen and certainly he was instrumental in the 3 points.

I do find it mildly frustrating that people seem to belittle the saves a goalkeeper makes because the ball is hit straight at him. He deserves his luck, just like everyone else in the team. If he is going to get slated when his luck is out, he needs to be lauded when his luck is in.

If they're hit straight at him, then you have to at the very least give him credit for his positioning.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Yes indeed this is fair.

Top keepers are fast enough and position themselves well enough that the forward can only hit the ball at the keeper unless very clever. Wayne deserves credit for getting his anticipation and positioning spot on on saturday.

I was a big critic of Wayne and now I'm really pleased to see him playing with more confidence and not making mistakes but I don't think that we should go overboard just yet. Chelsea's free kicks were awful on Saturday either missing the target or straight down the middle into Wayne's hands - if he had let those in he would've been crucified. Many Chelsea attacks were down the wing and resulted in shots from tight angles which Wayne saved but once again any keeper should save those - you don't get beat at the near post.
All i'm saying is that Wayne played really well and backed up a magnificent defence - he never let anyone down - but it was no super display as some are saying. If he can keep turning in performances like this and eliminate the mistakes then he will be fine but let's keep things in perspective.

The shot he saved by pushing it out far left away from any Chelsea players was fantastic.

The lad had a top game, he clearly wants to do well for palace and for that we should all get behind him.

No ifs or buts.

He's earnt our respect.

f***ing love the Palace!

Wayne had a great game on Saturday. Best performance from him in a Palace shirt. However, one good game does not make him a good keeper

He's been using the altitude mask as well. That will shift the extra bit of timber double quick. Good on the lad.
