Ed Sheeran is great at writing songs. The trouble is, he's great at writing other people's songs. Currently 2, yes 2 plagiarism suits against him, for "Thinking Out Loud", allegedly lifted from Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" , and "Photograph", allegedly an almost direct copy of Matt Cardle's "Amazing". Just a coincidence, I expect.

Relax people.... Ed Sheeran may well be talented or not... and he may have stolen the 4 chords theory or not as well as possibly lifting others work in his recorded songs. That is what makes life so interesting - opinions. We cannot all like or agree about stuff.... move on... accept that not everyone agrees with you.

It's a sad state of affairs when you think of the names of truely great songwriting artists from these shores: Lennon, McCartney, Ray Davis, Bowie, Morrissey/Marr, Elvis Costello, Paul Weller, Elton John, Andy Partridge, Jagger/Richards, Van Morrison, Syd Barrett, Sting, Nick Drake, Ian Dury, Kate Bush, Cat Stevens...

I play guitar and I'll re-iterate my earlier point. The guy has talent, knows how to write a hit, but isn't pushing the boundaries in any way. Which is a shame. My guess is he's afraid to experiment, or else, his label is telling him "no". The guy's got enough money to go his own direction though, surely.Don't know how many future albums he's contracted to. Too right = top guitarist and creative talent and textbook material for any wannabe musician. But also much respect for recent appearance on Comic Relief and his own touch of benevolence at the end of his feature:
