I doubt whether that's true but years ago I was involved in the management of a forum running on vbulletin and we had a hack that displayed all users using the same password and it became fairly obvious that banned members reregistering tended to keep the same password no matter what user name they chose. For the sake of those concerned about admins having access to passwords they were all encrypted and although the hack showed us which passwords had more than one user it didn't show us what the password was. It was a substantial forum and there were a few instances of the same password being used by over 100 users. I would guess that these were the old favourites "password" "12345678" and "qwerty" etc

We'll never know.
