Hardly an unbiased view of the whole dairy industry and written by a tree-hugging, Islington-dwelling, tofu-munching vegan who seems to have an agenda against all food production, oh and £5 notes.

From all i read and hear seems like its standard practice on dairy farms... if male cows cant produce milk why would they raise and feed them... once a female cant produce anymore milk why continue to raise her? When its all about profit why worry about the welfare of the animals?
The dairy industry is quite secretive about its practices and the more
Information comes out the more people will boycott it.

Why should the world of Bovine Resources be any less cut-throat in principle than modern-day HR?

We haven't quite reached the stage of slaughtering human non-contributors, but I'm sure there's room on some channel somewhere for a Carousel reboot ;-)

Bull calves were fed and raised up until the great Dutch veal horror stories many years ago, when the British public stopped buying and the demand fell.

Recently, there has been a revised interest in eating veal, and now quite a few farmers are now rearing them on to 20 weeks for local markets. It's all about having a demand to supply.

The article seems to have taken every worst example of dairy farming that it could find and presented it as the norm. Certainly round here in South Somerset, dairy herds are grazing in fields from the spring onwards, and only kept housed during the wet winter months to stop them trampling the fields to muddy destruction during this period, so that they have good grazing for most of the rest of the year.
