Put a bill to parliament, vote on it. If passed it becomes part of statute.

But how can you make people who own the rented property take less than they are asking....none workable
.what happens if the landlord uses that rent to pay his mortgage..and compo comes along and says sorry you can't charge the.
So Mr landlord says f*** it,I will sell it..imagine that 1000s of times...That's gonna help the housing crisis not.

That would be unworkable. Fact is. As taxpayers we are lining a lot of people's pockets through housing benefits covering extortionate rents. Notwithstanding this, just because you might think it's unworkable doesn't mean we should shrug shoulders and let it carry on. At least Corbyn said Labour will do something about it, let's wait and see the detail before dissing the idea.

What is needed to finance it. Other than administration and enforcement.

If loads of houses go on the market, great. Will bring down prices making them more affordable. Know anyone trying to get on the nest egg (sorry housing) ladder? They'd welcome it I'm sure. Add to this local authorities purchasing properties when the market is low (using funds from the type of QE Cambridge has mentioned , you'd be able to build up social housing stock.

I'm a swing voter if anybody can answer the question I had earlier or, if they can't, explain to me how the only thing that matters isn't the vast government debt and our trade whopping deficits?

People get really involved in the `operational' side of politics: should we privatize the NHS, should we ban Johnny Islam from our shores etc. etc. etc.

But I honestly don't get it, and it impedes my passion for the rest of politics. Why doesn't any debate have to be about our deficits at the start? If somebody can explain to me (and I'm being absolutely sincere here) why they're not by a country mile the most important detail, I will be genuinely grateful.
