You might deride it, but it works. There was no counter to "take back control". You can mock it, but that was exactly the correct approach.

If it's repeated throughout the campaign, it gains traction. There is a fraction that will never vote Tory, but they don't care about your vote - you're too far gone. It's the undecideds and the waverers.

This, on the other hand, would have been comedy. Such a shame they didn't use it:

If true, not a great idea but loads of ideas get thrown around
Agreed if repeated it gets into some peoples heads like adverts but this has been said before and been done before in previous campaigns with great success and most importantly it makes it possible to avoid talking about policies

Hollow orators and rhetoric spouting c**ts were the problem for Athenian democracy, and they're still the problem today.

Problem of democracy in a nutshell, you vote for the best policies, but everyone else if voting to f**k you with switchblades.

Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, not around the eyes, look into my eyes... You're under (the poverty line and there's nothing you can/we will do about it).

It's a shame that vapid soundbites are more important than setting out policy.

I can't wait for this election to be over so all the noisy minority London lefties can be put in their place once again and the Tories can get on with the business of government.
The map will be almost entirely blue reflecting the dominance of Tory support across virtually the whole of England with only the parts of ethnic minority London and a few bits of the North who still 'hate Thatcher' staying red.

Yawn.
