Very good friend of mine works in marketing and knows Parish well. Not sure if your guess work is accurate. And I've had a long (while sober) chat with Bright - gentle? He's a gentleman in the traditional sense. But was forthright and not what I'd say is a pushover

This extract from his autobiography indicates that Sam (prompted by his family) had been looking forward to a new, less stressful chapter in his life even before he went to Sunderland. If we get mired into a relegation next Christmas, who's to say he won't be invited back to save us again, perhaps on a five-month contract? Edited by merganser (24 May 2017 12.15pm)

No idea why the club hasn't released a statement. They put out Allardyce's statement yesterday and they've been posting happy birthday wishes for Yannick Bolasie today, as if everything's normal.

I don;t think there was A specific Clause - just that he's contracted for 2.5 years, and a massive compensation fee would be required to allow him to work within that period.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'why so abrupt departure' by Guntrisoft If my theory is correct and these rumours are true then waking up to the news he did yesterday and the suspected personal interest / being effected by it it's entirely feesable he had what I keep referring to as a lightbulb moment. Cliche I accept but don't know how else to describe it.. It was something to do with the Manchester events, it was discussed on Alan Brazil's show, they all seemed to have heard he personally knew someone involved and decided he didn't want to be away from his family for long periods anymore.
