Where it's been by luck or judgement. Palace have always found that firefighter to save a disasterous season. This time round there's no real stand out candidate.

Is this the biggest or hardest appointment since Parish has been at the club?

Its the only appointment he's had to make when we've not been in full crisis (in the PL years). I dont know if that makes it easier or not. But theres certainly no clear choice for me

That's true he does have about 5 to 6 weeks until pre season. The safest choice would be dyche as if we were relegated. Dyche proved twice by getting promoted.

There's certainly a few clear non-choices though.

I think we're in a fairly decent position with the best squad we've had in my lifetime, and a long time to go before the season starts. Getting in firefighters to save us each season was surely a more difficult venture.

That's true but every manager that parish has appointed by warnock was the obvious choice.

Do we take a risk , if it doesn't go to plan appoint hodgson to save our season again. Rinse and repeat.

We are in a position now where we can appoint someone to really build us, not just save us from relegation. So in that respect its a much bigger choice because who do you get to do that? Mancini would be my first choice, but I wonder if we'd be on his radar. If we could promise him a squad with Sakho, Cabaye and Zaha in them I'm sure we would be, but we could end up with none of those three.

You think Hodgson is an impact manager?

It is a little worrying that if we do end up in trouble at Christmas, we've exhausted the obvious saviour figures.

What is all this Hodgson nonsense, he is a broken man drawing his pension. Hardly an ambitious inspiring bloke, he would have Benteke taking the corners.
