With Appiah leaving us ... a family member said he is starting to feel like we are turning into Man City - not giving youth a chance ... have ANY youth players played Premier league games for us last season? Pretty sure Lapado and/or Anderson did?

They say hard work never hurt anyone ... but why take a chance?

I can think of worse things than turning into a Man City.

Which would be because they're not good enough. Even those that go out on loan in the lower divisions struggle to get regular starting places.

I'm sure that Parish would like nothing better than to have sufficient quality in the academy that he didn't have to spend £25m on a pair of left sided defenders.

Hopefully this season the top performing youngsters will be sent out on half season loans to Championship sides to see how they fare

Let's hope so. Our academy has been poor for years. Perhaps we can't attract the quality raw material against the competition.

I don't mind being high up in the league but there are few more plastic clubs.

Very few youngsters get into Premier League teams nowadays.
One at Man City none at Chelsea.
Mind you Chelsea earn money from loaning out 38 players.
And our loan was injured all season.!!

Who cares?

The team I support is the team that I support irrespective of whoever else supports them

I would like to see a limit to the number of players that any club can loan out which would stop rich clubs buying up the best talent but not playing them

If any of our youngsters were any good they would be going to bigger clubs than the likes of Shrewsbury, Doncaster and Luton.

Appiah left because he wasn't good enough. We had him when we were still in the Championship and he couldn't get a good run of games then. I think we kept him for too long because he isn't young, he's 26 and never really looked like getting into the first team.

I would like to see a few more younger players given a chance though but at this moment in time we really have only got a few
