He can hide behind whatever excuse he likes, but the fact remains that the Lib Dems made themselves unelectable after getting in bed with the tories and that is why their share of the vote dropped and that is why he's gone.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

I like many noticed the hypocrisy Farron went through because of his religious views. Did Khan get quizzed about his religious views during the major race?

I bet he didn't.

All religions are nonsense....however, they aren't all treated the same....Because...well plenty of progressives are hypocrites.

Its a tricky position to hold with a large swath of the Liberal Democrat membership and voters as a leader of the party. But the real reason is that their performance at the election wasn't enough, and one of those issues was Tim Fallon and his views on gay people kept coming up in the media.

There are many practicing christian MPs, how many of them were asked about their beliefs? What about the PM, I don't remember her being asked but I do remember her being asked who took the bins out.

He should have been honest, stating that he did believe gays were sinning but that as a liberal he would leave it up to everyone to decide for themselves. His voting record on behalf of gays seems to indicate this.

You are one election behind as the Lib Dems seats dropped drastically in the 2015 elections which is why Nick Clegg resigned as leader.

The same party under Tim Farron increased their seats slightly although not significantly.
