Have you ever tried getting away from Arsenal,Spurs and the old Upton Park.?

Its the only ground I can think of where you have a choice of three different stations, and a number of bus stops. Granted the traffic is s**t if your going by bus or car, but that's true of any ground in the country when the final whistle blows.

However if you don't mind standing, you can be on a train and away in 20 minutes. When we play Reading its usually 45 minutes wait to get on to a bus, into heavy traffic. Selhurst Park you can be in the pub, with mates discussing the game in 10-20 minutes or on a train. Granted there do seem to be less and less pubs near the ground (I miss the Port Manor)

Correct, where are the people complaining about it being hard to get to travelling from? it's probably a bit of a ball ache from the Orkney Islands or Narnia but other than that it seems reasonably easy to me.

Granted, I am reasonably young and able bodied so I can walk to Selhurst from a choice of several train stations, but I don't see how we are particularly hard to get to.

It's more northerners moaning they have to travel across London via tube and then train after getting off at Kings Cross or Euston rather than normally just tube and 1 change to most other London clubs.

Its easier to get to than Reading's ground which is only serviced by buses. There aren't too many grounds that are so well serviced by public transport than Selhurst (three stations, four if you don't mind walking from Crystal Palace). Although its a nightmare if you're in a wheelchair or driving - but then I like to have a few beers, and am reasonably able bodied (and provision for the disabled exists).

If you're going to include Crystal Palace, why not Penge West, East Croydon and West Croydon as well?

Crikey, I should probably go to more games

The thing is, if you got rid of everything that Northerners moan about they'd be gloomy that there was nothing left to moan about. Actually, that might be true of all society. Sorry Northerners, that was Geogrophobic of me.

I normally walk from East Croydon, it takes just over 30 minutes and is no longer in elapsed time than changing and getting a train to NJ - and there are loads who do the same walk.

If I train it from Luton it's Thameslink to East Croydon then one stop back to Selhurst or Norwood Junction.

Last Saturday I was back in Luton at 18:30.

Mind you I was saying Arsenal was difficult to get away from they do get 60,000 crowds.

Someone has mentioned about us being able to fill a 35,000 capacity stadium (Which I somehow doubt) and there has also been mention of problems relating to travelling by car.How on earth are the roads going to cope with larger attendances and where on earth are fans supposed to park ? Maybe they would need to introduce a 'Park and Ride' ?

Same. I also consider it part of my matchday experience. Gradually encountering more and more Palace fans as I get closer to the ground. The walk back is good too as we often try to guess what all the police cars are on their way to.

Yes I recall that night.
Some fans were urinating on the Holmesdale terrace because of the problems of making it to the loos.
