39 years So what do you want me to do throw a party or something? I was also standing on the holmesdale long before the new stand, and was one of the first with the 5 year season tickets in the new stand, So have been around a pretty long time, And i am entitled to my opinion, If you don't like what I am saying ignore it

You are so sad.

I have watched Palace for 39 years in the third and second tiers and only 17 years in the top tier. I view any year in the top tier as a success and celebrate it as such. Sure we can all be critical but personally I think you are missing the point of being Palace. We aren't likely ever to be another Man Utd so cheer up or ship out.

He says it was a mistake because he was a failure at Bolton, you think he'd consider it a mistake if he'd taken them up?

No he bottled it last game away from home and defended for a draw I think. We got 6th place instead.

Nope. Last time Steve Bruce was here he had an argument with a fan in a roundabout the Stephensons area of the main stand. He might have gone in to argue with the fan not backing down but the fat b***tard couldn't get his leg over knee height let alone waist height to climb over the hoardings.

Welcome back Dougie.despite what peeple say you are and always will be a Palace hero in my book.

Who can forget the two goals in a minute against Wolves in the play off semi final.

And of course the golden goal at Stockport away.

Welcome back Doggie.

This is what I'm trying to say for the signings under freedman lucky or has he got an eye for talent because that list doesn't fill me with joy. Thanks willo

Personally I think it's another indication that De Boer genuinely wants to succeed here at Palace. Reading into the quote in the article, you'd have to assume he had a part to play in the appointment.

An appointment of his repute, a former player of his stature could quite easily have come here with an ego, an arrogance and not even entertained the idea of work with a sporting director.

He has recognised that our fan base on match day is fantastic, he's appointed 'One of our own' as Captain (whether he should be playing is a separate issue), he's said he'd give young players a chance when the opportunity arises and now he's willing to work with Freedman who is a legend for us (Misguided and ill informed when he left us). Most 21st century, forward thinking football clubs have a similar structure and that has been addressed very quickly since he has been in charge of the team.

De Boer has done homework (referring to our previous performances (results last three seasons) at Anfield in recent seasons would be one of many indicators of this) and that has to be applauded.

He wants to be liked by the fans here that is blatently obvious.

This is why (in my opinion) that he deserves more respect than he has been given thus far and that he should be given due time to do what needs to be done to improve the club.

I see very few negatives thus far. When he get results against Ipswich and Swansea this week, as well as the promise of a couple of signings (you'd assume Burke will be joining now with the Freedman connection) will have been a good week for Palace.

Intelligent; great post.

That's the last scenario I want. FDB to fail and Freedman to take over.

It is in all our interests that Freedman makes a positive contribution in his new role to the extent that he is of great help to FDB and that FDB proves a real success. This is the scenario that I want.

Agree Ni.... Willo.

I have no idea why (Dougie lovers please read the stats-the reality is he is an appalling manager) but Parish has openly said more than once that he rates Freedman as a manager.
I can only assume that this is why Parish has bought him in. A safety blanket. A ready made replacement if the very worst was to happen and Frank was to end up sacked. Its a lot cheaper to sack a manager if you can promote from within for obvious reasons.
I assume this because I believe you could write on the back of a postage stamp what Freedman has in the way of experience of negotiating with agents, recruitment, upgrading training facilities, discussing transfers with other clubs etc. In fact I would imagine FdB and even Sammy Lee have experienced more than Freedman in all of these subjects.
Problem is, If FdB was to end up having to be sacked then I'm sorry but there is no way Freedman is going to keep us up. He nearly took Forest into League 1 (having been given money to spend). With the squad we have I don't see FdB failing. The team are already getting better and its only 2 games in.

Feel sorry for Dorian..my mate was his agent and we went to the Charlton Palace game a few years back when we got promotion (the game where Digachoi scoreda screamer). Afterwards I sat with the pair of them discussing a possible move to Sunderland who were interested and whilst my mate went to make a call he (Dorian) asked me to explain his wageslip...poor sod was getting 2,000 a week for a Championship club. That was only 5 years or so ago...i'd like to think he's on more now at Bolton...but I doubt it somehow

Can we please end this Steve Parish love in, years have now passed and we are all indebted to Steve for saving the club from when it was in administration. A fantastic gesture. But that is now history and we need to move on as a club.

The guy is not God and ultimately is responsible for where we are at this point. Some say he has lead us to safety for 4 years, In my opinion he has flirted with relegation without heeding any warning signs each season. Its the same every season, Where will we be at the end of this season when the loan signing return to there club. Probably in a bigger mess than we are right now.

Exactly in your opinion as you say but a fair few us think he is a great chairman and will not put us in debt just to satisfy people like you and go out and spend silly money. You are really sad person and as someone said earlier shut up or ship out!

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.
