At least he went with a smile on his face.

A recall a particularly dire game at Selhurst in the 1970s when some poor bloke collapsed in the Main Stand. The St John Ambulance people were there quickly and were soon carrying him away on a stretcher.

One Palace wag (remember - it was a dire game) yelled out, "You lucky b*stard!" and another, "Oi, lads; room in the ambulance for me?!" etc etc
