Half of India eats very inexpensively and without having to wait hours on very delicious and nourishing vegetarian fare all of which can be made very easily vegan. Sri Lankan food that isn't meat curries tends to be vegan as they use coconut instead of dairy by and large. South Asian food in general will either be vegan or easily adapted to be vegan (Noodle soups, salads, rice dishes, stir fry, curries etc). Curries, stews and a huge variety of salads can be made quickly and taste nice and be vegan friendly and not expensive.

Yes, I know we have eaten meat for a long time now but not everyone did and we aren't "designed" to eat it just we will if it is a survival option. Hindus don't eat it, Neanderthals in some parts didn't eat it. You may as well say we are designed to eat insects.

Well, if I invited a vegan round to a cheese and wine party they would probably have to bring their own cheese and wine. And if invited for a cuppa. Non-fish filtered wine, rennet cheese, soya milk. You won't find them in Farm Foods.

Humans will eat anything to survive if it is available.

But the canines... Humans were scavengers and hunter gatherers, and ate what they could. Meat was a true rarity back then; still is in many cultures (although globalism is changing that for the worse). We used to have a tiny piece of meat - if any - and load up on the veggies; now a large chunk of meat is often the biggest ingredient on the plate. As to our canine teeth, that name is more honourary than descriptive. You couldn't rend raw meat from a carcass with your canines whereas your molars and jaw are designed to grind like a cow's. Also, we have the long intestinal structure of a herbivore, not the short intestine of a pure carnivore. Yes, we can eat meat (once it's prepped for us), but that doesn't mean that it's ok to consume it to the extent that we do. Edited by Ray in Houston (05 Sep 2017 3.10pm)

My wife is enjoying all those same benefits, plus she has suffered from colitis for years now which has completely disappeared since ditching meat from our diet. The one time it flared up again was the one time we "cheated" and had a 6oz steak each; she had colitis the next day while I woke up that night drenched in sweat. Oh, and our grocery bill is much cheaper (once you've stocked up on the oils, herbs and spices you need for tasty vegetarian cooking). Edited by Ray in Houston (05 Sep 2017 3.38pm)

The global meat industry contributes more greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere than the global transportation industry. Meat production is incredibly carbon-intensive. In addition, the world's population of beef cattle (i.e. excluding dairy cattle) eats enough grain to feed a world human population of about 9 billion. South American rainforests are being cut down to make way for cattle, which accelerates the whole disaster. Conversely, if you cut out the "middle man" and just eat vegetables, we can use the land currently turned over to growing animal feedstock and use that to grow food for human consumption. Removing beef from our diet (doesn't have to be total, we just need to keep it for rare occasions) would allow all that rainforest to be reconstituted (it's been proven that this will happen in a very few years if left to its own devices). We'd all be healthier, we'd be reducing / eliminating all the chronic illnesses that come from consuming animal products: heart disease, diabetes, cancer. That would in turn relieve the pressure on the healthcare system and save a s***-ton of money there too. Oh, and we'd slow down global warming considerably and have much cleaner air to breathe. No more carbon-heavy cattle farming - producing livestock that breathe out CO2 and fart methane (a significantly worse greenhouse gas than CO2). We'd be farming vegetables that take in CO2 and express oxygen, don't need to be refrigerated, are far less prone to carry disease and include all the proteins, calcium and other elements that we need (where do you think the cows get their protein and calcium from...?). More new left nonsense, on a par with pulling down historical artefacts. There is no end to the rubbish that you guys spout.
