Thanks for the Video, it was emotional and heart warming to see what wonderful person he also was. As a former China Team Captain, I expect his comments would go a long way in his country. Though I do remember I did miss him when he was away on duty. I think to have given him that space may yet return dividends. Especially for a country where just 11 men on a field of soccer represent 1.4 billion people. Thank you, Fan Zhiyi its nice to see he still follows CPFC. COYP
School, SN.Juniors, SN High, Selhurst. 1st match 1972 CP 2 N. Utd 1. Thank you, John Jackson and Vince Hilair for brightening our darkest days. I moved to the west country in 1983. Always Proud and 'Glad All Over' to be a Palace Fan. )) |

Such a good series, strange that he comes across as a quiet almost gentle man because I recall him giving being pretty combative when he played, loved his game and what a special group of players they were without wages but playing their hearts out. Really good interview and to be reminded of that big struggle, puts the current one in a bit of perspective. Glad he retains good feelings for the club.

Can't remember if it was him or his fellow countryman I saw score for us at Bradford away, was 1-1 and absolutely lashing it down and they had to abandon the game sometime around half time as the pitch was starting to flood
"It's ok postman , he'll lick you to death" "That isn't really that comforting , I still end up dead !!" |

At the time he was certainly a cult hero and definitely increased the clubs exposure in the Far East. I think I'm right in saying that he was the most famous Chinese player of his time - a real celeb in China and I have posted elsewhere how a Chinese restaurant manager in Fuerteventura gave us free drinks because my son had a palace shirt on and that must have only been 2010ish - so he remains a cult hero with the Chinese.

Great player. Both him and sun did well for us. Comes across genuine, always good to see a foreign player take palace to their heart!!
