It seemed as if the deal only broke down sometime after Sakhos medical had started. I.e. We most likely tried to string it along until we knew he'd pass it.

Obviously this is all suspicion on my part but seemed to be how it played out.

As for the paper talk I'd assume that's an agent at work trying to get the players credibility back.
