Roy is a safe pair of hands whereas Frank was a maverick. You cant use the Premier league to experiment especially at a club like ours who have to fight for every win. He should get the best out of Andros and hopefully restore Luka to his natural position in front of the back four.

If Roy has his head screwed on he will park the bus for 90 mins playing a 5-4-1 and gain the first point of the season, doing in one game what FDB couldn't do in four.

And then resign citing a disagreement over the transfer budget.

I'm not arguing with your perfectly reasoned post, Croydonlad, but the bit in bold made me chuckle. Presumably this is the same Zaha who didn't get a look-in for England under Hodgson, when the team was crying out for something new (need I say more than 'witness the Iceland perfomance'?)?

Ive said many times that Zaha is not good enough for England
He definitely wasn't ready a year ago
Last year he improved 4 fold
He's finishing and final ball is not England quality
Roy will though use Zaha's place in the Palace squad to get them and him playing to their fullest potential

We have to go back to that type of football
Or Sams way , which was , whatever happens at least get a point , DO NOT LOSE
I honestly couldn't see us winning a game with FDB , and more worryingly I couldn't see us getting a clean sheet
Dont confuse Roy Hodgson club manager and England manager
Hodgson will get us stable and UP the table
Something that FDB could not offer

If Hodgson is appointed then at least the club can save some money and add it to De Boer's compensation because Roy won't need a club car He's got a bus pass.

What is the Palace way? Seriously? I keep hearing this, but no one defines it.

I have seen us play direct, hoof-ball, short passing, attacking, defensive and counter-attacking football: and as for formations we have played: 5-3-2, 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 3-4-3, 4-5-1, etc.

So, what is it?

It's pretending we're counter attacking geniuses, sacking the manager in January & then playing park the bus rugby style football for the rest of the season before pissing the manager off/sacking him. Can't wait to get back to business as usual, had enough of this foreign tippy tappy nonsense! (Even though it wins world cups and champions leagues)

It will come back to bite us on the arse, sooner rather than later, the illusion of false sustainability can only go on so long.

Yeah , why play that way eh when it keeps us in the division
Why play whats in our DNA
Lets try and play fancy football that we cant succeed at and go down
Thats much better eh

Oh boy

Keeps us in the division? Why do we have to change the manager once a year to implement it effectively then?

It's short sighted and brainless and it WILL catch up with us. You cannot get away with the way we've operated as a football club the last 4 years but you're too rash and thoughtless to realise that.

Sam Allardyce and Tony Pulis are one of a kind managers, they don't come around often and we've already used both of those life lines up. Eventually you get into a position where you must try to improve in possession, especially at home, or your life lines run out. You think every single year we'll be able to just casually beat Chelsea Liverpool and Arsenal in the space of 2 weeks?

You've got your wish anyway mate, but when this unsustainable and false impression we give ourself of a premier league club who actually deserves to be here fades away. When the club finally wakes up and smells the coffee & we come undone with our short sighted and reckless approach to affairs - I just hope you're still as vocal in your "support" then.

You're the perfect example of everything that's wrong at this club and in English football in general. Craving instant results over long term sustainable success will be the undoing of us.
