Roy did badly with England and Liverpool.
But he did extremely well at West Brom and Fulham...clubs of broadly similar size and stature to us. Could just be that the bigger jobs are outside of his range but he might do us well.

After steering Fulham clear of relegation the previous season, they finished 7th in the PL (their highest ever finish) and got them to a Uefa Cup Final the following season. Also did very well at WBA getting them to 11th - also their highest ever finish before Pulis (i think).

Roy has proven that he can manage teams similar to Palace and i'm positive about his appointment.

As for England, we've had a champions league winning manager look terrible when working with the national team - it's time we started looking at the players rather than the managers.

4 games is not enough time for any manager. For sure FDB made some strange team choices & subs but yesterday we were the better team. What sort of management do we have that change their mind at the first sign of trouble? to change a club's culture takes a long time so you have to back the manager. Woy will be a disaster, he put Liverpool's average attendance down 10,0000. Get Naglesman from Hoffenhiem & then back him for a few years, we need to plan long term not short term. How many players could we have bought with the ££ we have paid out to sacked managers?

What early signs from our game against Southampton will it take to give you some optimism for the appointment (currently I have no optimism whatsoever):

1. Puncheon benched.
2. Ward benched.
3. Lee not in the squad.

Southampton? Steady on, you know we love to dither around when appointing new managers.

Not an ideal set of circumstances but win on Saturday -then take a point - or even two - from our next three games and FDB will be a fading memory. Roy - and Ray - get us out the bottom three by Christmas and they will be treated as heroes. Such is football. COYP!

I think parish has been in therapy for the dithering issue and they may have over compensated as we just fired a manager after 4 games.

Worth noting that Gus Poyet has just resigned out in China . . . Just putting it out there
